Hey guys, I know I talk a lot about list building, but that’s simply because it is so foundational to your business. As they say “the money is in the list”…
Actually, the one I like better is – “the amount of money you make is directly proportional to your relationship with your list”.
And that’s kind of the point –
It’s not just about building a list. You have to build your relationship with your list, communicate with them on a regular basis, provide a lot of value, and build a strong bond with them.
All of which I’ve spoken about in the past and will continue to do so, but today I wanted to do something a little bit different.
I want to provide y’all with a list of 9+ great list building tips…
In the list below I’ll elaborate a little bit on each tip, but over the next few weeks I’m actually going to go into depth on each one, how to go about executing on them, the reasons why we do them, and all the other things you’re going to want to know about each.
Hopefully y’all will get tremendous value out of this series, and I look forward to hearing your comments and questions.

So, without further ado, here is the list…
1. Always Be Publishing
I talk a lot about publishing, but this is really the foundation of all you do. Whether it’s on Facebook, YouTube, Podcast, or a Blog, you want to be putting out high-quality content that speaks to your audience on a regular and consistent basis.
2. Get Everything You Can Out Of All You’ve Got
Jay Abraham actually wrote a book by this name, and I haven’t fully read it yet, but when I think of this saying what it means to me is we should get maximum leverage from what we do. Be strategic about everything you do.
3. Get on Other People’s “Shows”
I’m not just talking about TV Shows, I am talking about wherever someone is publishing. Be strategic about this and think about who already has your audience’s eyeballs – collaborate with them. This is a win-win-win for you, the show owner, and their audience. This is one of the best ways to gain additional exposure.
4. Have other people on your “show”
Just like the previous tip, having other people on your show is great for gaining exposure. But remember, tip #2 – be strategic. Who has your ideal customer/client/audience already congregated? Work with them to create a win-win-win for them, yourself, and your audience.
5. Give a TON of Value
This should go without saying, but all too often we have a scarcity mindset and try to hold the good stuff back for after we get a payday. The truth is, there isn’t a whole lot of groundbreaking new information available – everything is pretty much easy to find these days on YouTube, Google, or elsewhere. That doesn’t mean your ideal customer or client won’t buy from you. Actually, it’s exactly the opposite.
If you provide tremendous value for free upfront your dream client or customer will be knocking down the door to give you money.
Don’t hold back – give ‘em the best ya got!
6. Make an Offer
You can’t make any money without making an offer. And if you are trying to build a list, the same still holds true. The only difference in our case, when attempting to build a list, your initial offer should be something either free or low cost – but preferably something free. Again, give ‘em your best stuff – if you do, they’ll love you for it!
7. Use a compelling CTA
If you’re going to build your list, you need to give your ideal client or customer a reason to join the list, we already covered the offer, but an offer by itself isn’t good enough. You need to create a compelling CTA (call to action) – if they’re gonna get your “thing”, tell them what it will do for them, and why they should get it.
8. Stay In Touch
Again, simple in theory, but in practice often overlooked or neglected. You’ve got your list, don’t let it go cold. Keep in touch! Sure, some people will unsubscribe from your list, but that’s just part of the process. Those people weren’t really your dream client or customer in the first place. Just realize it’s going to happen and don’t let it get you down.
9. Build Relationships
This goes along with everything I’ve already said up to this point, but in everything, you do you should be building relationships. Build relationships by giving value, build relationships by providing good content, build relationships by staying in touch. This goes for both your audience as well as for your peers, or those who you have been on each others’ shows. The stronger your relationships, the further you’ll go!
10. Use Ads
Yes, you can gain a lot of ground organically, especially using the methods I mentioned above. But, if you wanna go bigger and faster, use ads. One of the best ways is Facebook ads, but that’s not the only way. Depending on your business and business model you may also want to consider Google Ads, Sponsoring a Podcast, YouTube Pre-Roll ads, or Banner Ads. All effective ways of building your list faster.
